I live in a very small town in the south of Poland. There is an old well in the town centre. The well is frequently visited by people from towns and cities situated several hundred kilometres away. It has recently become a popular destination among foreign tourists as well. Why is the well so well-known? Well, it is believed that it helps people become wealthy. A gold bullion bar was once found at the bottom. It all began at the beginning of the twentieth century. The town was really poor then, lots of people were unemployed and nobody knew how to change the situation. One day, a young boy, who came from an extremely poor family, wanted to draw some water from the well. He dropped his bucket down and when it hit the ground, he started pulling it up. But the bucket felt somehow heavy. When he saw it, he realised that there was something heavy inside. It was a gold bullion bar. The boy sold the gold and built a new house for his family. He also bought a small field and decided to grow wheat and millet there. Soon he became really well-off and never complained again. From that time on, people often visit out town to throw a coin in the well. It is believed that this will bring them financial security in the future.
